  12. Hi all,

  14.     I'm running a 2MB GVP EGS Spectrum on my 13MB A3000 (1 Chip, 12 Fast)
  15. under AmigaOS 2.1 and EGS 6.x.  I recently acquired the 7.2 archives and like
  16. an idiot copied them over my old 6.x stuff without first getting the 7.1 
  17. files.  When I did this, my driver (SVGA, I have a plain Acer SVGA monitor)
  18. could no longer properly display 800x600, 640x400, etc.  I could only display
  19. 1024x768!  
  20.     So I finally got a hold of the 7.1 distribution, renamed my old EGS
  21. drawer, and created a new EGS drawer in which to install 7.1 (since 7.1 was
  22. supposed to obsolete 6.x).  THEN things got really messy.  I couldn't get any
  23. EGS modes to show in the Display Database at all!
  24.     So I said, "Fine.  I'll just reinstall 6.x and work from there."
  25. Well, I reinstalled it, and then the WB screen would boot, but there 
  26. would be no icons or backdrop or anything!  No shell, even!  While booting,
  27. though, the message "couldn't find RAM:EGS.Config" appeared, and another 
  28. that said it couldn't find the mountlist for ECON:.
  29.     What I think happened is that all those installs really screwed 
  30. up my startup files.  Can anyone tell me how to clean them up to make it 
  31. as if I had no EGS in the first place (i.e., as if I had a normal ECS A3000)?
  32. THEN, do I just chunk the old 6.x disks and just install the 7.1 stuff?
  33. Aren't there some files missing from the 7.1 distribution, like some drivers
  34. (which I guess I'd just copy from 6.x)?  And finally, once I get 7.1 running
  35. properly, do I just copy the 7.2 files over the 7.1 files?
